Radio - Fake That - Photo Gallery
|
|
 |
| My DJ
career started off in the same way, as most other DJ’s,
a mobile jock doing birthday parties, weddings, and
Christmas parties. I then started to get involved in
Watford Hospital Radio, which gave me a good insight
into broadcasting. |
 |
 |
| The
equipment at Watford was of a high standard which
helped to produce quality shows, even if it were for a
small captive audience. I also worked in the
record library and on outside broadcasts. |
 |
| Three
seasons as a "Havenmate" for Haven Holidays
gave me the experience of entertaining a more mixed
audience and helped to build up my mic technique. |
|
 |
| As DJ’ing was
one of the duties of a "Havenmate" I was more than
happy to do it most nights a week in between my share of
comparing and getting on down with the holidaymakers.
My final season for Haven Holidays took me to the Isle of
Wight where after the season finished I decided to stay. |
 |
| Whilst living on
the Isle of Wight I worked for the I.O.W Radio Roadshow out
and about the island with their presenters and alongside
people such as Tony Blackburn, David Hamilton, and David ‘Kid’
Jensen. |
 |
| I also spent
much time in the studios learning from the techniques of
various presenters whilst they were on and off air and I was
also given the opportunity to use all the facilities
available to rehearse, produce and present my own shows. |
 |
| Booker T’s
café / bar / nightclub in Newport was my next port of call
entertaining and DJ’ing alongside Freddie Lee.
Booker T’s was also where "Fake That" were
formed, the original Take That tribute. |
 |
| I then spent two
years working on the other side of the island at the biggest
and best nightclub on the I.O.W. Colonel Bogeys and the
Jolly Sailor pub, which is situated above the club.
Once again I got to work alongside some top personalities
such as Dave Pearce (Radio 1), Dr Fox (Capital FM), Michelle
Collins, Alison Limerick and Edwin Star. |
 |
| I also had the
privilege of comparing The Motown show alongside the Four
Tops at Ryde Theatre before moving back to the mainland. |
 |
 |
On moving
back to the mainland I gained a job at Oasis FM in St
Albans and not soon after I also started work at
Bar~Risa and Jongleurs in Watford. Jongleurs Watford
is the largest comedy club in the world. |
 |
| My duties
as head DJ included maintaining all the sound and
light equipment, updating the information shown on the
monitors around the venue via an in house computer,
preparing the stage for shows, liasing with comedians,
liasing with other DJ’s. Organising promotions
and theme nights and retaining the music policy
throughout the venue were also an important part of my
job. |
|
 |
| After a two year
residency at Jongleurs / Bar~Risa I made the decision to
take on some new challenges and to approach new venues in
the hope of furthering my career. I had a Thursday and
Friday night residency at a busy pre club pub in Maidstone
called Gabriels. |
 |
| 2001 and the
majority of my work is now in the West End of London. |
